My Perfect Election Night Snacks

I don't know about you, but after November 8, 2016, presidential elections will forever be a significant cause of consternation for me. I've been disappointed with election results before. Distressed to the point of considering moving out of the country (for maybe a minute). Yes, I did revisit that particular minute many times during that specific presidency. Still, I was always able to calm myself down and concede that we live in an amazing country with many amazing people. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. However, on November 8, 2016, I actually cried. Tears literally flowed down my reddened (by anger) cheeks. My thoughts about moving out of the country were suddenly back, and this time they weren't as easily thwarted. I felt crushed that the country I was sure had finally accepted women as strong leaders really hadn't. I was angry that people who should have known what was at stake and voted the way they did, really didn't. I didn't expect to have those emotions that night. It was jarring to go into the day filled with optimism and to end up feeling so wrecked. When I think about it, my stomach starts to hurt. So, like many, I have quite a bit of trepidation about this election. And like many, I am a stress eater. I have no idea how tomorrow will turn out, but I know that I'm going to be in the mood to eat!

Instead of ordering in and risking getting sick on too much pizza, or going into a Chinese food coma, I like to appease my stress-eating with a variety of semi-healthy snacks. Of course, on a night like this, I will also be partaking in a little libation to help mellow my anxiety. Don't judge.

Here's a list of snacks I put together for this year's nerve-racking election night.

Frozen Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bites (recipe by Not Enough Cinnamon)

Roasted Chickpeas (recipe by Vegan Heaven)

Guacamole Deviled Eggs (recipe by Skinnytaste)

Air Fryer Sweet Chili Chicken Wings (recipe by Meal Plan Addict)

Lime Cucumber Cosmo (recipe by Mama Gourmand)
